Shifter Romance

Set in a post-apocalyptic era. Some people have turned to cannibals and there is no modern technology available.

Ivy is all alone in the world after her father died but he made sure she had a self-sustainable cabin in the woods just in case the apocalypse did happen. It has a cow for milk, chickens for eggs, fishes in a barrel, cured meat, a vegetable garden and a backup generator. Everything a girl needs to survive. When Ivy goes picking strawberries one day she comes across a bear with blue eyes that her father had once photographed. Not wanting to kill the bear and feeling like he is the last reminder of her father she does the one thing she is not supposed to… she runs.

He chases her to a lonely cabin where she injures her ankle. Here she meets Caleb who helps her out. They both are attracted to each other and the sparks fly.

Caleb helps her fight some of the cannibal men while he looks for his lost little brother. Will these two give in to their attraction to each other and have their HEA?

*Not Selena’s usual style of erotic romance. More stress on the romance story.*

Surviving the end of the world

Ivy is living in a post apocalyptic world in a self sustainable cabin her Father prepared for her. While picking strawberries she encounters a bear. Just as she is planning to shoot him she recognizes him from a photograph her Father took years ago. So she runs and he chases her to a remote cabin. Once inside she doesn't hear the bear anymore but Caleb appears. She has hurt her ankle so he offers to carry her home. Once there she finds her cabin has been broken into. Caleb knows the men who did this are after him because of a past history he has with the leader. So Ivy takes them to a bunker her Father had prepared. After a while they go outside but Ivy gets captured. The men use her to attract Caleb. Once Caleb shows up things get really interesting. This book has a lot of twists and turns and a big surprise at the end. If you like stories about shifters you will love this book. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Good post-apocalyptic shift romance :)

This was a good story. I liked Ivy and Caleb and enjoyed their story. In this story, the world has gone through and apocalyptic event. Instead of zombies, some people turned into animalistic cannibals.

Ivy lives in a small house in the wilderness. Her father was a nature photographer and a survivalist, making his home totally self sufficient so if civilization ended he'd have what he needed. He died before the crash but Ivy was able to live well in his home, away from other survivors of the catastrophe.

Caleb is a bear shifter that's being hunted by a crazy man. He recently came back to the area he grew up in, looking for his brother. Caleb found an old cabin he started staying in but didn't realize Ivy lived so close.

Ivy is foraging for strawberries in the woods when she encounters a bear. She runs for it and injures her ankle. She can't make it back to her home so she takes shelter in an old cabin she knows of. That old cabin happens to be the one Caleb is staying in so he (being the bear) changes shape and goes inside. Ivy is freaked but Caleb is patient with her and gets her trust. He helps her with her ankle and tries to take her back to her house but they find that bad guys have taken over her house. They have some tough times while trying to figure out what to do about the bad guys. Their issues do give them some time to get to know each other though and the mutual attraction becomes something more. In the end, all is worked out for the best (with a bit of a surprise worked in there) and Ivy and Caleb happily start their HEA together.

This was an enjoyable story. Ivy was a good heroine...she had been put down a lot in the past so she had a bad self image but it wasn't annoyingly bad and outside fo that she was good. Caleb was a good hero and I had no real complaints about him. The story definitely wasn't perfect but it was good, quick read that I liked. :)

* note - This book is supposed to be 150 pages long but mine ncluded a copy of Highland Wolf Pact as a free read. HWP came first so Bear Necessities didn't start until 66% on my Kindle. I'm guestimating that this story is closer to around 70 pages long.

About the Author

Dr. David Tolin is Director of the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Institute of Living and Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Randy O. Frost is Harold & Elsa Siipola Israel Professor of Psychology at Smith College.

Dr. Gail Steketee is Dean and Professor at Boston University School of Social Work.

Drs. Tolin, Frost, and Steketee are among the world's leading experts in the study and treatment of hoarding disorder. Together, they have held three grants to study hoarding from the National Institute of Mental Health and have led the field in our understanding of why hoarding behavior occurs, how hoarding is reflected in brain activity, and how best to treat people with hoarding. Excellent but if you have this problem buy the paper version

This book represents state of the art information on how to approach hoarding. It is directed at a self-help audience but can also be used with a support group. I am a psychologist and work with people who have the problem and it was useful to read but the Kindle version is not ideal for the person trying to use it themselves. The book has a number of places where you need to answer some questions. They do not show up well in the Kindle version and of course there is no way to record your answer in the book.

This book and the Workbook were recommended to me by a psychologist. I'm reading it in preparation for getting into some "hoarding" specific counseling. It based on the latest research-based information. I already have gained a lot of insights and practical stratigies I'm putting to use. I can' t wait to get my "house in order" (physically and emotionally). With theis book, workbook and counseling, I am super optimistic!

About the Author
Mat Ryer Mat Ryer has been programming computers since he was 6 years old; he and his father would build games and programs, first in BASIC on a ZX Spectrum and then in AmigaBASIC and AMOS on Commodore Amiga. Many hours were spent on manually copying the code from Amiga Format magazine and tweaking variables or moving GOTO statements around to see what might happen. The same spirit of exploration and obsession with programming led Mat to start work with a local agency in Mansfield, England, when he was 18, where he started to build websites and services. In 2006, Mat left rural Nottinghamshire for London, where he took a job at BT. It was here that he worked with a talented group of developers and managers on honing his agile development skills and developing the light flavor that he still uses today. After being contracted around London for a few years, coding everything from C# and Objective-C to Ruby and JavaScript, Mat noticed a new systems language called Go that Google was pioneering. Since it addressed very pertinent and relevant modern technical challenges, Mat started using it to solve problems while the language was still in the beta stage and he has used it ever since. In 2012, Mat moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he worked on a variety of projects, from big data web services and highly available systems to small side projects and charitable endeavors. He returned home, to London, in 2015 after the company he was working in was sold. Mat, to this day, continues to use Go to build a variety of products, services, and open-source projects. He writes articles about Go on his blog at matryer.com and tweets about Go with the handle @matryer. Great book for both experienced developers and those new to Go.

I was a reviewer for both the first and second edition of the book. I love the "Blueprints" structure from Packt, and the example applications Mat implements throughout the book are both interesting and substantive, not only touring aspects of the language, but a nice collection of open-source software and frameworks. He uses the popular Gorilla Mux library for routing in addition to the basic handler, there's an app with MongoDb persistence and the popular NATS messaging framework, and uses the popular go-kit library for microservices. The content is explained well and is approachable for both newcomers but technical enough for seasoned developers--whether already working in Go or not--to pick up some new tricks. I highly recommend this book for new team members, and am happy to see Packt grow as a technical publishing group as well. This is one of their flagship products.

I am a new comer to the world of Go. When I started learning, there was not so much material that provides you this in-depth knowledge of concepts. I felt this gap, after learning the basic syntax, and having a foundation of how things work in Go.

Go Programming Blueprints covered this gap for me, after learning the basics of Go from the different resources, this book helped me take a step further and understand and see things from a different perspective.

You can hack your way into Go from different tutorials, but this book gives you a structured approach and makes sure you grasp many of the concepts that you might miss, specially if you are new to programming.

This book is a must have, if you want a solid understanding of Go.

Pondicherry Piety (I freaking love that name) is a badass bounty hunter, and Max is her ship's plucky AI. When he brings her back to life via regeneration, he also takes it upon himself to look after her psychological and...physical needs. The dialogue is sharp, the futuristic world compelling, and the sex is HOT. If you're a fan of science fiction (think Mass Effect, Star Wars, Hitchhiker's Guide) mixed with a lot of dirty, dirty sex, then READ THIS STORY.

Let me start off by saying I was disappointed. Not because of the story, characters, writing, or cover, no I was
disappointed in the length.

This was a story that I didn’t want to end. I wanted to read more—so much more—of this world that Haleigh crafted. She created a wonderful, multidimensional universe with tons of back story and lore that made the scifi fan in me so very interested.

Despite all of this, “Cherrybomb: Love and Lust in the 27th Century” delivers sweet scifi erotica goodness. A tale of one woman adrift on the edges of space who wakes up after just barely surviving a raid with hunger for something that isn't food. She is a rebel and a badass who isn’t afraid to bend or break the rules. While she may be the only human on her ship, she isn’t alone.

Her ship and it’s AI, “Max”, tend to her physical and emotional wounds by creating a very realistic simulation of her teacher that after all these years still has a massive crush on. It has been a very long time since I was this turned on by a story and all I can say is: “where can I get me a ship like that?”

Hot, sexy, and extremely satisfying, Haleigh has once again left me begging for more.

About the Author
Stanley Rosen received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical enginering from the University of Buffalo.He then was employed as Chief Engineer at Tronomatic Corporation where he designed and build many types of thermoforming machinery, molds, dies, and large, heat-assisted, die-cutting presses.This was during the dawn of thermoforming, where he met and worked with some of the pioneers of the industry.

Rosen was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society of Plastics Engineers Thermoforming Division, and has been honored as Thermoformer of the Year. Presently, he is consulting and writing on topics related to thermoforming.
