Excellent Intro. to IFS for Clients and Therapists

I am a practicing psychotherapist that has been using IFS therapy with my clients. So far IFS has resonated with most of my clients. When I saw Dorie's book I thought it might be useful for my younger clients. While the book is great for children I have found that the book resonates with my adult clients. Today I shared the book with an adult client and it was like a light bulb turned on in her head. Dorie's book helped her make sense of how she experiences the world. IFS is a cutting edge mind-body therapy that helps individuals, couples and families deal with many different issues and problems. Dorie's book is an excellent introduction to IFS and resource for clients and therapists alike. The book is written in a clear and caring style. The illustrations are well done and help to explain basic IFS concepts to the reader. If you are interested in IFS buy this book!

A useful and distinct access to our internal families

I got this book a bit over a year ago, along with a lot of other "adult" books on Internal Family Systems (IFS). Recently, I've found myself returning to this one a lot.

Why? The others have great insight on IFS, and how to practice it. Internal Family Systems Therapy: New Dimensions is a very useful recent addition, for example. Get it!

But those books tend to appeal to our cerebral parts. Dorie's has a lot to say to our younger parts. A LOT!

So...it turns out that when clients want to know more about IFS, which I use as a coach, Dorie's book is often the one I'll pass one. It's especially great for clients whose question is more about getting OK with their parts and uncovering Self-energy. For some reason, the pictures and somewhat adult words work just great--to the point that one client assigned herself the task of "reading this book to her parts" a few times a week.

Loved it! Romance and resilience....

This was a wonderfully romantic story...and very clean for those who still like to leave some things to the imagination. Much like Debbie Macomber. The author did a beautiful job of sharing her feelings with the readers, enabling us to live the highs and lows of her family life, her career, and her relationship with Ken. It was an easy read and left me wanting more...

More than a treat for lovers of love!

When will part two of this book be released?!

This book was such an inspiration for me. Personally, I do not enjoy reading much. I think that may be a generational thing. Me being in my early twenties, most of the time I'm either reading a book because it is a required novel or it truly sparks my interest. And this book does just that! I was easily able to relate to this book because the author, during the time, is in her twenties (Which is inevitable for every person). Most of the things she describes I have either gone through, made the same jokes, or will go through soon in life. It amazes me how so much could happen in such a short period of time. It is very 'aw' inspiring as well! I'm still baffled at how such a short novel speaks to so many levels for so many different people. I'm trying not to give any of the book away without having to go more and more in detail!!! You will not regret this purchase at all. And if there is anything I don't like, that is buying something I cannot return. No worries here! =)

Very helpful in my journey to lower BP

I used the information in this book and others to naturally lower my BP from 150+ to 120. The information is scientifically proven and will work if you are motivated enough to do it. Take a good long look at the side effects of BP medication, and hopefully that will motivate you to give this a try.

It's worth noting that I am NOT a vegetable lover by nature. I have to work hard at creating dishes that will get me to eat more veggies. Fortunately, I do love a variety of fruits, so that part is a bit easier for me. If you are like me and don't find it easy just to eat veggies because someone said so, get online or go to your local library to find some great vegetarian or vegan cookbooks. You don't have to BECOME vegan or vegetarian by any means, but this is where you will find all the recipes that will help you eat what you need to eat on the DASH diet to lower your BP.

DO NOT GET THE KINDLE VERSION. THE BOOK ADVERTISED IS THE NEW 2011 VERSION, BUT IF YOU ORDER THE KINDLE VERSION THEY SEND TO YOU THE OLD, OUTDATED 2001 VERSION.

Go Dash For Healthy Eating Life Style

The Dash Diet for Hypertension more than likely saved me from a stroke or heart attack. When I started this plan I was fifty pounds overweight and my blood pressure was in stage II. After reading and studying this book I could not beleive the amount of sodium I was taking in everyday. Eating out at least once and sometimes twice a day was literally killing me. This plan for eating was hard for me at first. Food was bland, nothing taste good, I was hooked on salt really bad. But I endured, stayed the couse and now I have cut my sodium to around 900 a day and calories to 1600 or less. I had to play with the menu some to get my calorie intake to where I wanted it but made sure I was still getting the potassium I was suppose to have. I have got to say that my family doctor never mentioned trying to control my blood pressue with what I eat. Blood pressure pills was the answer. Well let me tell you blood pressure pills ought to be a last resort. I tried pills for awhile and felt worse taking them than when I wasn't. I thought to myself there has to be a better way naturally so I searched the net and found the dash diet book by Dr. Moore. The book is the answer for me. I have lost weight and my blood pressure is now in the high normal range. I have more weight to loose and hopefully my blood pressure will go down even more.
