Kenneth J. Guest is a professor at Baruch College and the author of God in Chinatown: Religion and Survival in New York’s Evolving Immigrant Community (2003). His research focuses on China, New York City, immigration, religion, and transnationalism. He has conducted fieldwork in China and the United States.

Written in a pretty clear, understandable manner without being too dry. Some textbooks are hit-or-miss, but this was pretty interesting. Also, mine was delivered in very good condition.

A Dishonest Book

I already had been having trouble swallowing what Mr. Guest promotes in this textbook, but when I reached chapter 10 and found that he grossly minimizes the Chinese Cultural Revolution, effectively making it seems harmless and possibly even good, I concluded that I cannot take this man seriously. I will finish reading this book for class, but I will never voluntarily read another book written by Mr. Guest again.
